Originally entitled "Later Alligator", the song, based on a 12-bar blues chord structure, was written by Louisiana songwriter Robert Charles Guidry and first recorded by him under his professional name "Bobby Charles" in 1955, then covered later by Roy Hall and more famously by Bill Haley and his Comets. It's a little beauty and we do it both in the original style and the Comets' more upbeat delivery, depending on how we feel at the time ;)
